There will be a Marcy PTO General Meeting on Friday, May 5, at 1:30 pm in the LGA. We will vote on open board positions for the 2017-18 school year and listen to a teacher presentation on maintaining student reading and math skills over the summer.
Did you know that children can lose up to 2 months worth of their academic skills over summer break (a.k.a. the dreaded summer slide)? Summer is a time for fun, but that doesn’t mean it’s a time to stop learning. Mrs. Yellin, Mrs. Lauer and Mrs. Mueller will provide insights about summer reading, tips to keep your children reading all summer long, and will offer book recommendations.
“Go Down Deep Enough into Anything and You Will Find Mathematics.” Math is EVERYWHERE! Make math come alive this summer through games and activities to enhance and promote mathematical discovery and learning. Ms. Lee and Mrs. Coe will share some creative, fun, and simple ways to integrate and celebrate math in daily activities throughout the summer.
Mrs. Yellin and Mrs. Coe will also be unveiling a new Marcy Summer Resources website that parents can access throughout the summer for reading and math resources.
There are several open PTO Board positions for the upcoming school year. Please take a moment to read the position descriptions on the attached form. If you would like to nominate yourself or someone else, fill out the form and return to school by May 3rd.
If you have any questions about the positions, or if you think you might be interested but are not sure where you may fit, please email current PTO President Karen Seiler at email@example.com.
