Staff Appreciation Week Reminder: Tomorrow (Tuesday) is designated as the day to bring a gift from home. This could be a hand written note or card from you and/or your child, a gift card, a favorite treat, or go with our theme and give a book! There is no school-wide food planned for this day.
As spring weather is arriving, there are two opportunities for you to help in the Marcy Gardens. The first is a workday on May 17th and the second is helping with the weeding, watering and harvesting through the summer months.
First, we’d love to have you help the Marcy Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts as they help to maintain the Marcy outdoor classrooms! On Sunday, May 17th from 1pm to 3pm, we’ll be staining benches and doing light maintenance to the Butterfly Garden classroom at the front of the school. Master Gardener Patti Nagai will be on hand to talk with the kids about composting. Snacks will be provided. Please bring your rake, paint brush, and drop cloth if you have them.
Let us know you can help by filling out the following form:
For the summer months, please use the following Sign-Up Genius link to let us know which week(s) you’d be willing to help with the weeding, watering and harvesting of the gardens.
Mark your calendar for the next Marcy PTO dining out event!
Yo Mama at Ruby Isle in Brookfield will donate 30% of the proceeds from those who mention Marcy Elementary or present the attached flyer from 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. on Thursday, May 7th.

Stock up the freezer now full of healthy meats, sprouted grain breads and organic pantry items. If you’re not sure what to try, here are some of the top favorites from other Marcy families: Extra Lean Ground Chuck, Chicken Breasts, Eggs, Ground Turkey, Pork Bacon, Prime Rib Patties, Bacon Cheddar Brats, Chicken Caprese Brats, Pork Roast and the Chuck Roast. Marcy’s own Guidance Counselor, Lori Schlapman, is a big fan of the breads, and they freeze well!
Recipe Idea: Place the frozen pork roast in the crock pot with 1/2 cup of water on low for 10 hours. Shred with a fork, drain and add taco seasoning for taco night or your favorite BBQ sauce for BBQ pulled pork sandwiches.
Our last PTO meeting of the year will be held on Friday, May 8th at 10:00a.m. Our featured speaker will be our Art teacher, Mrs. Cormican, who will talk about art at Marcy and the Artist in Residence program that will be happening next year! Also, we will be voting on officers for next year’s PTO Board. Breakfast will be served! We hope to see you there!
